Searching for a new job? ...First look at your teeth!

Everyone knows your appearance, grooming, and the way you dress are very important in making a good impression at any job interview. A firm handshake and friendly smile are critical to making a great first impression. Studies show people make in their minds their first impressions of you in the first few seconds of meeting you and first impressions can be an important factor in the hiring process. Did you realize one of the first things people look at when they meet you is your smile! And yellow, stained, or crooked teeth can result in a poor image of you. HAVE YOU RECENTLY LOOKED IN THE MIRROR AT YOUR TEETH?

People don't always think in terms of their mouth as they do with the rest of their body. Have you ever been introduced to someone at the office or a party who has a piece of food stuck in their teeth. Of course it's not an attractive sight, but dark teeth, red puffy gums, and discolored teeth can be a real turn off. People judge the appearance of your teeth to reflect how you take care of the rest of your body, your self image, and your cleanliness.

In an employer's mind, a person that is neglecting his or her teeth and personal health habits, will probably be sloppy in his job performance. He is thinking you may be turning off potential or existing customers. And bad breath could be another turn off. Employers realize that their employees represent their company's image.

Take a good look in the mirror and give yourself your best "interview smile". Do you like what you see? Then turn left and right and see if their are any defects or unsightly teeth when an interviewer or potential customer sees your profile. But don't stop there. Talk into the mirror and see what others see. Notice that your upper teeth are mostly visible when you smile, but your LOWER teeth show the most when you talk. All visible aspects of your smile need to be looking good for the best impression.

Changing your smile can sometimes be an easy thing to do with our professional strength tooth whitening products, tooth edge reshaping, or replacing old fillings. For more involved procedures we can do a smile makeover with bonding, porcelain crowns and veneers, and lifelike tooth replacements.

Remember in this competitive recessionary environment, you need to make your best impression to stand out from the other applicants. One of the best ways to do that is to flash a confident, healthy smile. It's your image-- Make it a good one!!

THE SMILE STARTER!

Smiling is infectious,
You catch it like the flu.
When someone smiled at me today,
I started smiling too.
I passed around the corner,
and someone saw my grin.
When he smiled I realized,
I'd passed it to him.
I thought about that smile,
then I realized its worth.
A single smile just like mine,
could travel the earth.
So, if you feel a smile begin,
don't leave it undetected.
Let's start an epidemic
and get the world infected!

Thanks to patient Bud Gawthrop for passing on this bit of wisdom!
