Announcing an exiting new procedure…
LUMINEERS!
Imagine having the bright, dazzling white "Hollywood" smile of your dreams with no drilling, no shots, no pain….. We are proud to announce a revolutionary new dental veneer we are now providing in our office. Lumineer porcelain veneers are the most exciting new service in dentistry today. Lumineers can transform your existing smile into a beautiful, brilliantly white "Hollywood Smile" you have always dreamed of.
Veneers are a thin shell of porcelain that is bonded over your teeth in order to hide unsightly, dark, or discolored teeth. Normally this requires removing a thin layer of enamel to compensate for the thickness of porcelain. How are these veneers different from the standard porcelain veneer? First of all, Lumineers are the only veneer available made of feldspathic Cerinate porcelain—the strongest, yet thinnest porcelain available. These veneers are as THIN AS A CONTACT LENS!! This means in most cases, Lumineers can be placed on your teeth without any drilling or tooth reduction and without the necessity of temporaries! While some minor polishing and enamel recontouring may be necessary, these veneers are done painlessly, with no shots and it is a reversible, non-invasive comfortable procedure! Even dark tetracycline stained or yellowed teeth can be completely masked out with sparkling white veneers. Ask us if you would be a good candidate for this amazing treatment.
Does Red Wine Prevent Tooth Loss??
A recent study in the Journal of Dental Research found that wine may help prevent tooth loss. Researchers found that antioxidants, called polyphenols, like those commonly found in red wine, fruits, and vegetables can help reduce the inflammation that occurs when a person has gum disease (periodontitis) . The study indicated that polyphenols may be the key to a future approach in treating periodontal disease. See Mom was right….eat your fruits and vegetables.(And maybe an occasional glass of wine!)
Napoleon's Tooth Fetches a Grand Sum of Money!
(And not from the tooth fairy)
Swindon, England: An upper canine tooth believed to belong to Napoleon Bonaparte was sold at auction for a whopping $22,600! The badly decayed tooth came with papers tracing it back to a private collection of Napoleon's physician, Barry O'Meara, who extracted it in 1817, during Napoleon's exile on the British isle of St. Helena. Napoleon died there four years later. Even royalty was not immune to getting cavities and toothaches!

Ever hear of a toothpaste thief? Police in the town of Dueren, Germany recently arrested a
37 year old person suspected of shoplifting in a supermarket. After they patted him down,
they found he had stuffed 39 tubes of toothpaste in his pants!
